USDA PROGRAMS
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has many different programs that all serve to help people. In the Scott County USDA building there are 2 USDA program offices. The Farm Service Agency (FSA) and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). These two programs work hand in hand to help the local landowners and producers. The Scott County Conservation District is a state program that works with these two federal programs in a partnership.
The USDA's Mission Statement for FSA is as follows for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services:
Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services helps to keep
America's farmers and ranchers in business as they face the uncertainties of
weather and markets. They deliver commodity, credit, conservation, disaster, and
emergency assistance programs that help improve the stability and strength of
the agricultural economy.
The NRCS mission statement :
Helping people Help the Land.
