Scott County Conservation District is proud to be
able to offer local farmers two of the state cost share programs, Water
Resources Cost-Share Program and Non-Point Source Pollution Control Program. Our
goal, with these programs is to help landowners financially to slow soil
erosion, improve water quality and the conservation of water. Cost-share money
is given to the county districts on July 1st, at the beginning of the state
government's fiscal year. District supervisors approve each application to make
sure that the funds are being used to maximize conservation in the county.
The county provides a percentage of funds to each project that will not cover
more than 70%. The local District Conservationist has to check over most of the
plans for our programs and insures they are completed properly too. For any questions please contact us. State guidelines can be
found at the Kansas' State Conservation Commission's (SCC) website.

Another informational site is the Kansas Association of Conservation Districts
(KACD) at http://www.kacdnet.org/
All of the Water Resources Cost-share Program (WR) items require the NRCS District Conservationist to check the area and plans. In our WR Program we can help you with:
In the Non-Point Source Pollution Control Program (NPS) we only have a few items but they are equally important to the landowners in our county.
Any Well Decommissioning needs inspected by our NRCS District Conservationist. The Onsite Wastewater System has to be inspected by the North West Local Environmental Protection Group (NWLEPG) in Colby, Ks before and after the system is installed. They also require a permit to do an Onsite Wastewater System.
